General introduction to the map The River II.

 

Maplayout and playtime

This is a fast playing 2-stage map mainly designed for stopwatch. Map duration is 15 minutes which prooved well playable in 6on6. 
A good or a lucky team can win the map in well below 3 mins. Nevertheless its well playable in campaigns too.

Spawntimes are 15/20 for Allies/Axis, which is offense bias in both stages.

First Stage 

Allies have to set up a forward spawn by repairing the
 Engine Control Panel in the engine room of the Tram Station. 

There are 2 access routes and it is well possible to overcome the defense in 2-4 waves. Some of the ways are closed at the start by doors or walls that can be destroyed with 1-2 grenades.

Fighting environment is tunnels, a cave and the Tram Station... 
so its close quarter combat. 

 

 

Second Stage

Allies need to steal the Treasure Manifest from the Castle and take it to the Escape Truck, which is a long run and can be intercepted by Axis.

From the Tram Station there are several ways into the castle  which lead either directly to the documents or to a forward spawn flag. 

The basic way for Allies to play the map is to capture the Castle Flag via the Bridge (see pic). Having the flag  will give Allies the advantage of an offense bias setting inside the castle and a good chance for effectively blocking Axis reinforcements. After stealing the docs Allies have to carry them to the waiting Escape Truck.

Fighting enviromment is first medium open terrain with lots of cover (trees, a hut, terrain relief). Against good teamplay by Allies the Axis cannot hold Allies outside the castle for long. Inside the castle its a mix of mid-range to close quarter combat again with lots of z-axis action as well.
